Thanksgiving... and an early Christmas

We got to go home over Thanksgiving break... Eva-Lynn and I had hoped to surprise both sets of parents by just showing up at their front door unexpectedly, but we ended up telling them all we were coming. Surprising people in that way is a lot harder than you'd think.... people have a nasty habit of making plans for their holidays. ;)

I also splurged while I was gone.... by buying myself a new digital SLR for Christmas/my birthday/my fun allowance for the next six months. :) It's so AWESOME!!! (A Canon EOS Rebel XSi, with 18-55mm and 55-250mm lenses.) Of course, I spent most of Thanksgiving break taking hundreds of photos. A random assortment if my first experimental shots can be found below. (Even more in Picasa.) I'll have some more Thanksgiving-y ones up soon. :)

Father-son bonding.... Dad also bought himself a nice DSLR camera body for Christmas/birthday/Fathers Day....

A visit to the grocery store...

(As you can see, my favorite new ability is cranking down the f-stop for a smaller depth of field.)

This is the "Why on earth are you taking so many pictures???" face.

My dad is crazy.... in a totally awesome way. And, believe it or not, quite sober.

If dogs could drive.

BIG dogs

We went mushroom-hunting on the golf course by the Johnsons' house...
That, however, is a golf ball.
